There has been a good amount of talk about X-Wing online including fan made ships, painting tutorials, terrain like laser towers and turrets, and more, just search the web.

A few options are now available so instead of using a black space mat for gaming on, you can game on a certain very large space station (not a moon).

SkeletonKey Games released Warscapes: Star Base Trench-Run - A pdf download from RPGNow of fifteen 8 inch by 10 inch terrain tiles recreating the surface of a massive space station.

Fat Dragon Games released E-Z Battlefields: Starship Attack - A pdf download from RPGNow of nine 8"x10" tiles that have layered graphic options which allow you to customize each tile before printing. Add construction areas and blast damage as desired, or leave these layers off for a 'new' look to your surface. Also included are 3D gun turrets and asteroids, both featuring layered graphic options as well.

Gale Force 9 previewed some new game mats including a 36"x36" vinyl mat with a certain space station as a background.
