"Black Water Navies rules are for any Space Ships that you already have. The setting is the Orion Arm during the year 2284.  You are able to pick from 92 nations (humans and aliens), 810 modifiable ship classes. Sizes vary from small shuttle-size crafts to huge battle wagons. The table size can vary from 2-foot square (if you use centimeters) to 4x8 (if feet are used). Included are rules for all aspects of war in space: 3d, mines, ECCM/ECM, subs, armed shuttles, lasers, plasma, asteroids, surface weapons, etc.

Each ship is fought separately. Players can control as many as they wish, usually 2 large to 4 small. There is a point system for those desiring equal battles.

Each ship class can be modified to the player's requirement: armor, weapons, crew level, types of shells, electronics, etc. The aliens have several unique weapon systems. Not all nations and ship classes carry the same equipment. Damage can vary from a simple dent to massive loss of equipment."

The Black Water Universe also includes the games Black Water Armies (microarmor) and Black Water Marines (squad level) and all the games can be connected.   

 

6/19/2009 - The publisher of Black Water Navies has changed names (and website URL) to Ironclad Press (http://www.ironcladpress.com).

There seems to be some minor name changes for the campaign supplesments:

Black Water Campaign #1: Where Are We? - A campaign using the Navies and Marines rules.  Boarding Action rules are included.

Black Water Navies Campaign #2: The Other Side - While compatible with the other rules this is a complete rules system. This is an advance electronic warfare version. All new races, many new weapons and special items. This one is designed to make you think. No simple put the ship on the table and hope for the best dice rolls.

Black Water Navies Campaign #3: The Worm Hole - A small stable worm hole has been found. Only Escort size vessels can transit to the asteroid world. New Races.  For both Navies and Marines rules.

 

11/2/2007 - Black Water Navies: The Other Side is now available.

1/24/2007 - Black Water Navies is now available from CSS Chicora Productions website.  You can purchase BW Navies by itself as a pdf file emailed to you for $9.95.  A deluxe version on CD is available and it includes all the Black Water games including the campaign for $29.95 - US or $34.95 overseas.
